You don't have to have met any cast member's or anything just simply how you felt before or after the show, who was Billy or Michael how good did you think they were? If you did meet someone how did you feel meeting them?; nervous, excited... Were they nice? or shy?stuck-up?What was your fave dance or song? Who was your favourite character/cast member? If you saw it more than once which Billy/Michael/Debbie do you prefer? These are just sokme things to think about when writing.

RHYS KOSAKOWSKI- Newcastleplays Billy
“I’m Rhys Kosakowski from Newcastle, where I live with my Mum, Dad, and younger sister Chenelle.
I’ve always been athletic and began dancing at an early age. I enjoy all types of dance - ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip hop and for three years I also competed in gymnastics.
My first professional experience came when my family and I found out about an open audition for the Queensland Ballet Company. I got in and performed in their production of The Nutcracker, which helped to develop my dance technique.
When my family and I heard there were auditions for Billy Elliot in Newcastle I was thrilled to get an audition. After many months of intense dancing, singing, and dialect training I learned that I would have the opportunity to play the role of Billy.
During this whole process I’ve met so many interesting and wonderful people who have taught me many things to better my passion and I’m sure I will learn a lot more. So a big thank you to Stephen Daldry, Jon Finn and Peter Darling for allowing me the opportunity to be in this wonderful production, and an even bigger thank you to my Mum, Dad, Grandma and all my dance teachers for believing in me and putting in so much extra effort: without you, I wouldn’t have this great opportunity and wouldn’t have been able to fulfill my dream.”

Rhys and Billy share more similarities than just their passion for dance. Rhys' dad works in the coal mining industrie and his grandma lives with him!

JOSHUA DENYER - Sydneyplays Billy

“Hi I’m Josh, I’m 13 years old.
My Dad, Grandad and Uncles all played soccer, so it was breaking the tradition to pull on dance shoes rather than soccer boots!
My sister Chantelle, was my inspiration for dance. At age 6 I joined Capital Performance Studios and I took up classical ballet in June 2007 with Ecole Ballet & Dance Theatre.
I have performed in the play The Serpents Teeth for The Sydney Theatre Company, have worked on several TV commercials and have had guest appearances on All Saints and Life Support. I recently finished filming the feature film Accidents Happen playing one of Geena Davis’ sons.
It has been an incredibly challenging but rewarding journey auditioning and rehearsing for the role of Billy. I have made some great friendships and met some very talented people. I’m so honored to be working alongside an incredible cast and look forward to being part of this musical.
I have so many people to thank, Chantelle, Kerrie and Glenn Dumbrell, Jane Allyn, everyone involved in the Billy Elliot audition & training process, Rachel for her friendship and support, Kermond Management and my family for getting me to the right place at the right time!!”

MICHAEL DAMESKI - Sydneyplays Billy “
I’m Michael Dameski but my friends call me Mickey. I’m 12 years old and live in Sydney with my Mum, Dad, sisters Katrina and Diana and my grandparents.
Ever since I can remember I have enjoyed performing and my family tell me that since I was a baby I have always wanted to be in front of an audience. I love acrobatics, dancing, singing and acting.
I have taken part in many Dance Competitions and Eisteddfods, In 2006 I received first place in the Music and Performing Arts Junior Challenge and In 2007 I was given the opportunity to represent Australia in the World Championships of Performing Arts in Los Angeles. I received gold for all categories and was awarded Junior World Dancer for 2007.
Also in 2007 I was a guest at the Zlatno Slavejce (Golden Nightingale) Children’s Singing Festival in Macedonia, at which I recorded a song written especially for me ‘One Dance’
Getting the role of Billy has been an exciting and overwhelming experience and I would like to thank all my teachers and mentors from Billy Elliot the Musical and Brent Street Studios and Agency who have supported and helped along the way.

DAYTON TAVARES - Sydneyplays Billy

“Hi, my name is Dayton Tavares, I’m 12 years old and I live with my Mum, Dad and two sisters.
I used to watch both my sisters at their dance eisteddfods and thought it looked like fun so one day in 2005 I decided to do a hip-hop class at Studio 11 in Penrith. That day I discovered my true passion was to dance and perform. I also love to sing, play soccer and I’m a blackbelt in taekwondo.
Since I started dancing I have won lots of awards, done well in eisteddfods and I was lucky enough to win Australian Junior Dancer of the Year 2007, which meant I got to represent Australia at the World Dance Championships in Las Vegas. I won prizes in the competition including my favourite - Mr Junior Las Vegas.
I have performed at the Urban Music Awards, Industry Awards, The Sydney Opera House, toured to Malaysia with Studio 11 and now I’m so excited to have the opportunity to play Billy Elliot.
It’s a dream come true after many, many months of training and auditions and I would like to thank everyone at Billy Elliot. I would like to thank my Mum, Dad and sisters Aeysha and Tenille for always believing in me and most importantly my dance teachers Kylie Vassallo & Thern Reynolds for all their guidance and encouragement. “

DANIEL RUSSELL - NSW NORTH COAST

I’m Daniel Russell from the Central Coast of NSW. I’m 13, I live with my Mum and Dad, my sister Karina, and my brother Michael. Being born into a performing family, I had an early start to my dancing and loved it from the very first lesson. I started jazz and tap when I was 3, ballet when I was 6, and modern at 8, all at Dancin’ Mates Performing Arts Dancing School in Umina. I also sing and have started gymnastics. Although this is my first professional musical to perform in, I have performed in shows with Gosford Musical Society, including ‘Oliver!’ as the part of Oliver, Annie Get Your Gun, and Alice in Wonderland (with my sister as Alice). Special thanks to all these people for helping on the way - Joanne McMahon for giving me vocal training, Scallywags Gym, Michael and Karina, my grandparents, and an ENORMOUS thankyou to my Mum and Dad. Thank you to all these people for giving me such an amazing opportunity. Billy Elliot for me is an incredible experience and an exceptional opportunity. I hope all the audience will enjoy the performance of Billy Elliot The Musical as much as I do. Daniel started in April during the Melbourne season as Rhys left the cast as he was getting too tall.

“My name is Joel Slater and I am 12 years old. I was born in Sydney, NSW and live with my Mum, Dad and my two younger brothers Ethan and Noah.

At 18 months of age I ,loved movies with songs in them and I would watch them until I knew them all word for word.

At the age of 4, I joined the Janice Breen Performance Studio where I had lots of fun learning tap, jazz, funk, ballet and drama. I danced in lots of shows there but my favourites were performing at Carols in the Domain and the NSW Premiers Concerts where I sang as a young Frank Sinatra with Tom Burlinson at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

In 2006 I was lucky enough to be cast as Benji in Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical and enjoyed meeting and working with some wonderful people there. The Billy Elliot auditions were great fun but lots of hard work and I learnt so much thanks to Gerry Symonds and Tom Hodgson who always believed in us and gave us the strength to keep going. A very special thank you to Rachel Mooney for all her care and encouragement during this time. Performing is something I love doing and there is nothing better than seeing people in the audience laughing and enjoying themselves. I also love mucking around with my brothers, hanging out with my friends at kid's church and playing computer games.”

“Hi, I’m Thomas Doherty, I’m 13 years old. I live in Ipswich, QLD with my Dad – Terry, Mum – Sue, older sister – Shelley and cute dog – Indie. I attend grade 6 at Ipswich Central State School.I’m lucky enough to be part of a very large and loving extended family both here in Ipswich and in Perth, W.A. I have grown up around dancing as my sister, Shelley and five cousins all dance, even three aunties are qualified dance teachers!

I started dancing when I was four years old and have always attended Dancetime Studio under the instruction of the wonderful Mandy Ogilvie – who also happens to be another cousin! When I’m not dancing, I love to water ski and play soccer for my team, Ipswich Knights. Over the years I have attended many eisteddfods and concerts with Dancetime Studio but the highlight for me so far has been performing the role of “Michael” in this wonderful musical, since November 2007. My journey to become “Michael” has been amazing. During this time I have had the opportunity to meet and work with many talented people, making some great friends along the way. Back in QLD I was lucky enough to be teamed up with two more wonderful people so i would love to thank the terrific Miranda Charters and Mark Hill. During the 15months of the Sydney season I realised that performing on stage in front of a live audience is my true passion and I am really excited to continue my journey in Melbourne! Of course I must thank a lot of people. My biggest thank you goes to my Mum, Dad and Shelley and my dance teacher, Mandy. Without their encouragement, love and support I would never have been able to achieve this unbelievable dream."

“My name is Landen, I am from Wellington New Zealand. In my family I am the youngest with a brother Joel and a sister Allie.

Mum’s dance school Deborah Hale Musical Theatre is my second home. Tap, jazz, hip hop and contemporary are the classes I attend weekly. Workshops are something I really enjoy. It’s great to learn from different tutors, and be challenged with different styles. I also enjoy talent quests and competitions. As long as I am performing I am happy. When I am not performing I enjoy soccer skateboarding, art and watching wrestling with my friends. My Mum and Dad met in the Theatre. Dad’s a singer and Mum a dancer. My first Musical Theatre experience was in the cast of children in Porirua Little Theatres production of The King and I. It was great. Thank you to Dreamcast Talent Agency for putting me forward for the audition. Billy Elliot is the most exciting learning experience I have ever had. I'm 13 years old ( nov 07)and i live in Newcastle NSW with my mum and dad. My Involvement with the performing arts began with my year 1 teachers encouragement to learn drama. This led to my enrolement at the age of eight at the Young People's Theatre at Hamilton, where I've had roles in five amateur productions, my favourite being as Wilbur the pig in Charlotte's Web. I also enjoyed a small role in the movie Suburban Mayhem along side Steve Bastoni. I only began dancing just over 3 years ago under the guidance of Nerrida Bushell. I still dance with Nerrida but now I dance at Groove Dance Productions East Maitland Dance Academy. I enjoy tap dancing the most and have competed in many eistedfodds over the last couple of years. I have also performed at Start Struck Newcastle for 3 years. I'm a student at the Hunter School of the Performing Arts at Broadmeadow where staff provide a rich curriculum i all areas of the arts. Although performing is my passion and consumes much of my spare time I also enjoy swimming and karate. When I heard that the auditions were being held for the Australian production of Billy Elliot the Musical I hounded my parents to let me try out. From the first day of auditions to the day I was offered the role was an amazing journey. The experience I gained under with the guidance of an incredible team of prfessionals was a dream come true and I can't thank them enough. Whilst this is my professional muscial thaetre dubut, I hope it is the first of many. I'd like to take this oppurtunity to thank my family and friends for their love and support to acknowledge YPT,HSPA and in particular their dedication,guidance and inspiration of Glenda and Nerrida. “I’m Rhys Kosakowski from Newcastle, where I live with my Mum, Dad, and younger sister Chenelle.

I’ve always been athletic and began dancing at an early age. I enjoy all types of dance - ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip hop and for three years I also competed in gymnastics.

My first professional experience came when my family and I found out about an open audition for the Queensland Ballet Company. I got in and performed in their production of The Nutcracker, which helped to develop my dance technique.

When my family and I heard there were auditions for Billy Elliot in Newcastle I was thrilled to get an audition. After many months of intense dancing, singing, and dialect training I learned that I would have the opportunity to play the role of Billy.

During this whole process I’ve met so many interesting and wonderful people who have taught me many things to better my passion and I’m sure I will learn a lot more. So a big thank you to Stephen Daldry, Jon Finn and Peter Darling for allowing me the opportunity to be in this wonderful production, and an even bigger thank you to my Mum, Dad, Grandma and all my dance teachers for believing in me and putting in so much extra effort: without you, I wouldn’t have this great opportunity and wouldn’t have been able to fulfill my dream.”

LOCHLAN DENHOLM-MELBOURNE

The Billy Elliot experience so far has been exciting, challenging and lots of fun. My name is Lochlan Denholm and I'm 13 years old(in November 07). I live with my mum, dad and older siter Minna in Melbourne, Victoria. I have always been interested in sport and music and have been diving and doing gymnastics since I was 6. At eight years of age I stopped diving and focused on gymnastics, representing victoria at the 2005 National Championships in Sydney.

It was During 2005 that I started thinking about dance and took up funk and tap at the Gay Wightman School, then in 2006 I began classical ballet. There are many people to thank for getting me onto this stage: all the London team-especiall Julian,a ll the crew at LRC, particulary Rachel, Leigh Rowles from the Australian Ballet School, the tap teachers at Centerstage, the fantstic Dioni, Mrs Finney and Sharon (where it all began), my gymnastic's coaches who have no doubt put me in good stead for the stamina and energy required for the role of Billy. I want to thank Steve for voice training and a huge thankyou to Tom and Gerry. Last but not least, my parents, extended family and to Minna who sat in dingy dancoing halls and gave up her time so I could have the oppurtunity to forfill a dream.

RARMIAN NEWTON-MELBOURNE
plays Billy
At fourteen, Rarmian is already a seasoned professional with some impressive credits to his name. He has always been passionate about singing and dancing and started classes when he was four. For the past five years he has been studying dance, drama, musical theatre and private singing at Centerstage Performing Arts school in Brunswick, Melbourne and is also undertaking Year 8 on a Dance Scholarship at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School. He was thrilled when he was recently announced as the winner of the 2007 VCA RAD Ballet Scholarship.

Rarmian is a versatile performer and his credits include everything from Musical Theatre to television commercials. In 2006, he was chosen as one of the four boys to rehearse and understudy the role of 'young Peter' alongside Hugh Jackman in The Boy fROM Oz Arena Production and in 2005 he starred in a US series 'Nightmares and Dreamscapes' based on a collection of Stephen King Short Stories.

Rarmian has performed live in fropnt of a capacity crowd at the 2005 Wizard Cup Final singing the National Anthem and featured in the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony as a flying acrobat. He has also appeared in a number of short films, on stage at La Mama and most recently the TV comedy show The Wedge.

Playing the lead in Billy Elliot is a dream come true for Rarmian, and the culmination of years of study and hard work following his passion to perform.

Hi, I'm Nick Twiney-pronounced 'Twinee'-I'm 14 years old and live in sydney with my mum and dad and my 18 year old brother Chris. I became interested in dance when I was 10. I started dance lessons at Shore, my all boys school.

My friend Jack and I then started taking ballet lessons to learn jazz, tap, acrobatics, modern and contemorary dancing and I really enjoyed it so now it's my passion.

I became an interstate associate of the Australian Ballet School in 2006 and started to do well in danc e eisteddfods. In 2005 I came second in my age group in a competition called Australian Dance Idol and won a very nice trophy-a pity as the girl who came forst won $4000. However, the producers of the film Razzle Dazzle saw my performanc enad cast me as Tyson, the only boy dancer in the film. The film was released in early 2007.

My brother Chris is very keen on my dancing as I'm now surrounded by attrctive girls-a bit of a change form school.

I have enjoyed auditioning for Billy and meeting the incredible creative team and the other boys involved. I look forward to fulfilling my dream of appearing on stage in such a great show a Billy Elliot
